More Eco Styling

Hi there curlies,

Today I co-washed for the last time with my GVP Tea Tree Oil Condish (something just isn’t right about this stuff). Then I did my version of a plop to dry my hair some with hopes of bigger hair (my wash and go’s tend to have less volume).  Instead on a leave in a used Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme just to see if there was any difference. I applied the Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel (which I can’t stand the smell). I used a shingling method on medium sized sections then proceeded with a banana clip style that I have rocked almost all weekend.  I’m really loving this clip works great for work or partying and doesn’t take long to do.

Well here go the results and please ignore my cheap foundation:

Banana Clip Do 1

Banana Clip Do 3

Banana Clip Do 4

This gel is definately a keeper almost a HG. I just can’t let go of my KCCC. Eco Styler is consistant and doesn’t flake or leave build up. My hair is also moisturized and soft when it gets old and after rinsing it out. Feel free to share your eco styling stories and cocktails.

BTYL,

Angelique

I’m reallllly loving this stuff. My hair has looked so fab for it to be 2nd day hair. The curl definition is amazing and my hair isn’t crunchy (thanks to some coconut oil). I can’t wait to use this again but I have some more experimenting to do as well as more product reviews.

Stay tuned….I’m doing a flat twist out with the GVP Conditioning Balm (Matrix Biolage generic) and Herbal Essence’s Totally Twisted Gel.

Kinky Curly Probs Solved

So I’m on one of my favorite sources to stalk curlies…. Youtube….and I come across a demo of home to apply Kinky Curly products by now other than the owner herself. She offered some great tips so I plan to use for myself. Check this out…

I also check out the website and she had a whole list of common questions. I copied and paste them just for you but still visit the site she has a few new products and tools…..so here goes

HOW MUCH PRODUCT SHOULD I USE?
The amount of product used will vary from one customer to the next. The amount you need will depend on the final look you wish to achieve and the length and thickness of your hair. Thicker tighter curls need more product and loose wavy curls can get away with using much less. Use more product for very controlled curls and use less product if you want more fullness and body. Also the more product you apply the longer your style will last.

MY HAIR FEELS CRUNCHY WHEN IT IS DRY?
The product can dry with a firm hold if over applied. You can apply less product the next time or use the Gloss Pomade to un-scrunch the crunch.

SOME PARTS OF MY HAIR ARE FRIZZY AND SOME AREAS ARE NICE AND CURLY?
Sounds like you did not apply the product evenly to each section. On thick tight curls you can never slap the Curling Custard on the top of your head and expect good results. It will not penetrate to the inner layers to define the curls. On your next try make sure you divide your hair into small sections and apply to each section starting at the root and smooth it all the way down the length of the hair to the ends.

WHEN MY HAIR IS DRY I END UP WITH A WHITE FILM / WHITE CHUNKS IN MY HAIR?
Another product you are currently using or have used in the past is not mixing well with the Curling Custard. You must shampoo your hair to remove the buildup.

I USED YOUR COME CLEAN SHAMPOO AND I STILL HAVE WHITE STUFF IN MY HAIR?
Come Clean shampoo will remove mild to moderate buildup. If you have used a heavy duty silicone product or a product with an ingredient like beeswax or lanolin we suggest you mix a pinch of baking soda with the Come Clean shampoo in the palm of your hand and use this to wash your hair. This will clean your hair without using a harsh clarifying shampoo.

MY HAIR FEELS STICKY?
Your hair was not wet enough to allow the product to be diluted and distributed evenly enough. Try again and make sure hair is completely wet when applying the Curling Custard.  Keep a spray bottle with water close by to re-wet sections if they start to dry.

THE ENDS OF MY HAIR ARE STILL STRAIGHT?
You may have heat damage from  a flat iron or curling iron. Our products will not make your hair curl up if it has been damaged by heat. You can twist and twirl sections around your fingers to create a curl or you may cut off the damaged straight ends.

CAN I DO A CONDITIONER WASH?
A conditioner wash when first using our products may not be enough to remove styling product buildup. We recommend the Come Clean Shampoo instead.

CAN I USE MY OLD FAITHFUL TRIED AND TRUE SHAMPOO / CONDITIONER WITH THE CURLING CUSTARD?
We recommend using COME CLEAN + KNOT TODAY + CURLING CUSTARD  since they are designed to work together as a system especially on your first use. An ingredient in your “tried and true” shampoo or “old faithful” conditioner may not mix well with the Curling Custard and it can cause you to get less than stellar results. We understand customers like to mix and match products from different brands but you should use Kinky-Curly products together in order to truly see the results of what our products can do on your hair.

Well I hope this helps because I know it helped me some. I think with me co-washing I don’t get consistent results as well as trying to find the perfect amount of product for my hair. I sometimes shy away from big hair with I might have to go that route because sometimes I get jherri curlish results when doing wash and go styles (which is not all that cute 🙂 )

3rd Day Hair OMG!

So I was a bit worried but my KCCC’d hair help up. Now last week I was in love with KCCC after I was able to keep up 5 day hair. Earlier  this week I wasn’t too happy because after KCCC’ing my hair looked a complete fool by day one. Well I wasn’t that bad it was partially my fault.

I think the key to getting a KCCC style down is a bonnet over night. Also using the prefect amount of product and not over manipulating it. I had the best results with using my deman d3 to smooth the Knot Today to my sectioned hair the finger styling with the KCCC then using the denman on my less curly spots for extra definition.

Now I ran out of the KCCC so I didn’t have a choice this morning I just took my bonnet off, misted my hair with distilled water and pulled, fluffed, and scruched my curls with the Spiral Spritz and surprisingly it worked out.  I was off to work with extra time on my hands. What a great start to my day.

Well I still haven’t hit up the worlds largest Kinky Curly display at my local Whole Food so I have to try and make it to day 4.

One thing about natural hair is not knowing what to expect  but that’s always more fun than being a chameleon…..

At Last….

My love has returned….my Kinky Curly Knot Today is back and better than before. The have a new bottle but the recipe is still the same.

Like always and out of curiosity I decided to see if it could stand alone….. I did a little experimenting a tired it as a wash n go, a bantu knot-out Tnc combo,  and  with my Ampro gel for my donut bun……The wash and go was not all that my hair was all puffed up but when in doubt I cover it up…. So I put on my hair net for the day and once it dried I played around and realized I had a few options as far as styling goes…..one thing a realized in this journey is that just playing around and not getting discouraged will land in success. That’s the whole fun part of being natural the results are endless.
