Treat Your Hair to the Benefits of Chocolate!

Happy Valentine’s Day Curlies,

Hope you all are feeling the love in the air today. No reason to be sad you don’t have a Valentine. I am a huge advocate of spoiling myself around the holidays and especially my hair.  Why not try out a yummy deep treatment and sit back and relax with a cup of tea?

One thing I love about Valentine’s Day is chocolate. I love anything chocolate but haven’t seen many options for hair but then again smelling chocolate all day would make me crave it more. There are, however a ton of benefits to chocolate whether you are eating its or using it on your hair and body.

Check out this article on Naturally Curly by Stephanie Bird:

The cacao tree is as beautiful and intriguing as it is useful.  One of the top economic botanical plants, Theombroma cacaos pods yield cocoa butter, cocoa powder and that confection we desire most of all during February: chocolate.

Savoring the numerous health benefits of chocolate is a nourishing treat for skin and hair—adding shine, vibrancy and improving the general health of both. By using chocolate and cocoa butter products on your hair and skin, you get to enjoy the delightful chocolaty aroma and reap the benefits of antioxidants, vitamin and mineral, while skipping the fear and guilt of overindulging this February 14th…

Stay tuned I have found a few products with chocolate and cocoa!

How will you be treating your hair this V-Day?

Music Lover Mondays: Les Nubians “Afrodance”

Hey curls!

One of my loves is music and I plan to share new music every Monday and an occassional song of the day from now on. This song shares my love for music and hair. I think it’s going to be one of my official hair theme songs. I have been a fan of Les Nubians for a while. Part of me wanted this song to be in French but I don’t think this song would rock out the same. Well hope you like and jam out on this Monday!

Enjoy luvs (and do ya AfroDance…shake ya Afro 🙂 )

Trendy Tuesday: Gray Hair, Like it? Love it? Leave it?

There are so many trends that come and go whether it’s hair styles or ingredients in products. For the past year or so odd hair colors have been trending ,in particular pastels and neutrals. I haven’t seen too many curlies rocking it but we can always count on Kelis, especially for crazy colors and cuts. I came across a few pictures on several blogs but I will let you all be the judge. Ignore the style and try to concentrate in the color. I know both are pretty out there.

I actually like it. I wouldn’t rock this but I think it’s cute for a few weeks… if you are an entertainer. After a week or so it needs to me rinsed with another color, I don’t think it would be cute for a whole season. Kelly Obsourne has been wearing it for a while and I think it’s time for her to let it go too!

So what do you think? Like it? Love it? or Leave It?

Chrisette Michele’s Big Chop

Today’s fab curl is Chrisette Michele! She worked this TWA. I love how she spiced it up with big lashes and a statement making, huge feather earring. Her makeup is flawless and very natural looking too. To achieve this style you can do a wash and go leaving a light spray leave-in conditioner and seal with an oil or hair pomade. I think a combo of one of Oyin Handmade’s juices and pomades would work great. That line smells sooooo yummy! You could also achieve this look doing a coil out with a soft hold styler or hair butter. I was surprised to have read that Chrisette colors her own hair. Deep conditioning is a must weekly if you decide to color because keeping those curls moisturized will prevent damage and promote healthy hair.

Have you recently BCd???….Please share your experiences and what products you use? Do you want to BC soon… Do you think you would like to rock a look like this?

If its Nappy Their Not Happy?????

Evening girlies and guys,

Well I just got back from seeing Good Hair. It was okay but with all the hype and the Oprah show I was expecting more. Here’s the trailer in case you haven’t seen it yet.

So like I was saying…. this movie did bring a lot of question to my mind. I didn’t want to seem like a nerd taking notes during the movie but I think I’m going to add a new feature posting a question of the week.

The movie did make me reconsider my sew-in seeing how Indian hair is obtained. The only thing I didn’t like was the limited representation of natural hair.

One scene where the girls in high school where talking about natural hair in the corporate world and the one girl with a fro didn’t get to say a word after they pretty much put her hair down. I think I want to start yet another feature for natural hair in the corporate world.

His research seemed limited to only perms and weaves but I think the issue of good hair is a lot deeper and has more history behind. I guess that was all the natural blogs are for.  Chris Rock was just a concerned father so I guess it was acceptable and good to hear a man’s point of view.

Overall the movie was funny. I may have just had too high expectations. I recommend you to check it out this weekend. Gotta support black movies. Surprisingly the theater was pretty empty.

If you saw the movie share your thoughts, concerns, likes, and dislikes!!!

P.S.  I was supposed to be meeting up with some of the girls from Black Girl Long Hair…unfortunely I got there when the movie started and after I didn’t see anyone…except one of my fav youtubers….

P.P.S Here are some clips that had me rotfl….the tumble weave (I know you have seen them if you live in an urban area

Curly or not black women are all product junkies…

Weave or not somedays I don’t like people touching my hair..this clip also brought a lot of ideas and questions to mind

I didn’t know Ice T had a perm…this scene was hilarious makes me wonder why people like still do it

P.P.P.S  Okay I lied…GO SEE THIS MOVIE …these clips stopped right before the good parts. They even had the inventor of the Jeri Curl on and he sounded like those chemicals went right to his brain.I also heard a girl say she wanted to go natural after the movie!!!
